Wedderburn is situated on State Highway 85 and is one of the stops on the Otago Central Rail Trail. Wedderburn was originally a Coach stop when horse and cart were the only means of travelling to Central Otago. Wedderburn has a Tavern and the first Golf Course in the world to open in the new Millennium. The nearby Backpackers Lodge and the Tavern provide accommodation and meals for visitors. Four Wheel Drive Tours of the area are also popular.
The Wedderburn Railway shed and landscape is wonderfully captured in the exquisite paintings of New Zealand artist Graham Sydney.
