The historic Ophir township has a charming collection of stone buildings from the goldmining days as well as a working post office, operated by The Historic Places Trust daily between 9.00 am and noon. Nearby O'Connell's swing bridge dating from 1880 crosses the Manuherikia River and a 'must-see'.
